Summer is fast drawing to a close, but Stain remains a hotbed of activity.
A mid-week form up to go bash some pos’ was called and we get ready to head out, suddenly the FC tells us all to move quickly 3 jumps away as our blues have been jumped by BRICK. So was haul ass to remove that thorn from our side once more. Upon arriving the field is clear of BRICK and the blues have had there fleet reduced. So we hang around while they reship. Then it’s off the bash those pos’. On the way theres a close call with a TRI gang which (even though we have good numbers) looks like it could do some serious damage; 35 Drakes and 15 Scimitars plus some other ships. We manage to get past this gang unmolestered.
We enter the target system and the support lock down the gates, we then RF the 2 small pos’, 1 ZAF and 1 KIA, and get ready to head elsewhere. I think the FC only arranged a one-way pass from the TRI gang and they want a fight, which is fine.
So we play a little gate tennis for a few jumps neither fleet wanting to jump into the other and lose the advantage, but when we reach LC- it looks like it going to be on.
We jump in to a clear gate but the fleet is reported in local. We see one drake at range 300km from the gate so fast support makes chase, but he doesn’t move. The trap is obvious but hey we came here for a fight. As support get near one of the BS’s warps 100 from the support giving us a snipe point on the TRI fleet that is now warping into their bait ship. “Bubbles up” and the BS’s warp ro their point and primaries are called. Support concentrate on the Scimitars whilst BS’s start grinding through the drakes. They are going down one by one for very few loses, but we’re fairly evenly matched. All of a suddenly local pops and a combined ZAF/KIA/Goonswarm (REDS) fleet jumps in. We’re already in the thick of it (and smelling a DD) so we carry on. The TRI gang sees them too and warps out and back to the gate. Primaries are switched and the reds start popping, now it’s a 3-way fight there is no NAP with TRI we’re all shooting each other. The battle continues for a few minutes then the red’s warp out. We all wait for the cyno to appear and a field of titans to pop up, but nothing happens. One hapless pilot warps out to planet 1 to find himself surronded by the red fleet, and instapops. The reds then warp back into the fight and it continues, Eddz is seen on the field and, assuming he’s the cyno pilot, he’s instapopped. There skirmish continues until the reds warp out the a safe spot between the gate and planet 1. There’s too few of them to make a difference so we regroup, clear the field and head home.
